My Favorite Season to Reset

Dear {{ first_name }},

As I sit on the deck this morning, I’m reminded of one of the many reasons I love spring and summer so deeply. It takes me back to a quiet chapter two years ago- when I jumpstarted my own health journey.

Back then, I didn’t have a dedicated workout space. I ordered three dumbbell sets online, cleared a small corner on the deck, and made a promise to myself: wake up before the kids, before work, and just start.

At first, it was about convenience. But it quickly became so much more than a workout.

There was something magical about that 5–6 AM hour. The sun rising. The birds singing. The stillness. It felt like I was reclaiming a part of myself I didn’t realize I had lost - buried under hospital walls, cold hallways, and fluorescent lights.

Those early mornings exposed my eyes to natural sunlight, gently resetting my circadian rhythm and improving my deep sleep. I didn’t know the science then- I just knew I felt better.

Later, as I learned more about nature as medicine, I added a tiny ritual: walking barefoot in the grass while sipping my coffee. Grounding. Healing. Bliss.

All this -before work.

It’s no surprise that this season still sparks something in me. Just this week, I brought my dumbbells back out to the deck from the little gym corner in my office. I’ve missed those deck workouts -especially after a stretch of late nights and social events that kept me from my 5 AM rhythm last week.

These days, I rarely plan evening outings. Mornings mean too much. When I say yes to social commitments, I try to opt for daytime gatherings instead-ones that don’t take away from the most sacred part of my day.

Do you think you’re getting enough nature in your daily life?

If not, what’s one small and realistic setup that could work for you? Maybe it’s stepping out for your morning coffee on the patio, walking your kids to school, or even opening the window and soaking in 10 minutes of sunlight before the chaos begins.

🎧 On that note -if you want to nerd out on how powerful nature, sunlight & sleepare for immune health, I highly recommend this episode of the Huberman Lab with Dr. Roger Seheult:

And remember, {{ first_name }} -it’s never just about the workout.

It’s about choosing yourself before the world even wakes up. That quiet kind of strength? It sets the tone for everything else.

Until next week,

Dr. Leen

You don't need a revolution. You need a one-degree shift.
I used to think that to change my life, I needed to make a massive change. Quit my job.Move to another country.Burn it all down. But that's not true. The most profound changes come from small, consistent, one-degree shifts. Reading for 15 minutes a day. Saying no to one thing a week. Going for a 10-minute walk. These small shifts, over time, will change your entire trajectory. What's one small ...
My life, my rules.
Hi {{ first_name | default: "there" }}, I used to live by everyone else's rules. Then I wrote my own. I created a sovereignty statement. It's a declaration of how I choose to live my life. It's my personal constitution. It reminds me that I am the architect of my life. And I get to make the rules. What's one rule you want to live by? To your evolution, Dr. Leen
Where did the joy go?
I used to be so focused on achieving my goals that I forgot to enjoy my life. I was all work and no play. And I was miserable. So I did a joy inventory. I made a list of all the things that brought me joy. Then I started scheduling them into my week. Reading for fun. Dancing. Calling a friend. It brought me back to life. What's one thing that used to bring you joy that you've stopped doing? Wit...
